AMIRA International at SimeXmin 2018 Conference - 20-23 May, Ouro Preto, Brazil

The Brazilian Symposium on Mineral Exploration, SIMEXMIN 2018, will take place on May 20-23 in the famous city of Ouro Preto, Brazil.
The conference is being held at a moment when changes in the Brazilian mineral legislation are being consolidated. Exploration in Brazil is nevertheless facing considerable challenges. Organised by Agencia para o Desenvolvimento Tecnologico da Industria Mineral Brasileira (ADIMB), the Conference will bring together explorers, suppliers, researchers and government personnel to discuss these challenges.

Joe Cucuzza, AMIRA International's Managing Director, will be attending the conference and will be chairing the session on "Collaborative Innovation Programs" scheduled for Wednesday 23rd at 9:00am. He will deliver an address on the activities of AMIRA International including the just commenced P1061A South American Exploration Initiative (SAXI) project. Also delivering an address will be Dr Mark Jessel, CET-UWA, about AMIRA's very successful P934 The West African Exploration Initiative (WAXI) project.

A separate informal briefing on the SAXI project has been organised for Wednesday 23rd May between 14:00-15:00 at the VIP Room. on the first floor, next to the Auditorium; at the Simexmin conference Centre. Exploration companies, both sponsors and non-sponsors, who are interested participating should contact Adele Seymon at adele.seymon@amirainternational.com.  Please note places are limited.

A Global Forum for Copper Connections

Joe Cucuzza, AMIRA International's Managing Director, will deliver an address at the COPPER to the WORLD 2018 CONFERENCE in Adelaide, on Tuesday 26th June 2018.

The conference will focus on the future of copper under the themes of international perspectives, new technologies, innovation and engagement, and discovering the next copper resources.

Joe's address is titled "Exploration in Australia - Quo Vadis?".  The industry in Australia , and indeed in many other parts of the world, is at a crossroads. It is generally accepted that the exploration search space has dramatically changed from where the major historical metal discoveries were made. Most, if not all, world-class base and precious metal deposits that have some surface expression have now been found. The next frontier is then in those areas where post-mineralisation cover conceals the deposits.

It is in these areas that the exploration methodologies and toolkit of the past 60 years will no longer be sufficient to reduce risk to the extent that exploration becomes an attractive risk taking proposition, compared to other non-mining investments for example. In his address Joe  will discuss  the plan  to address the key challenges.  But the key question is - "is  there the will in industry to implement the plan?
